The Big Draw 2008

The sun finally put his hat on and came out to draw on Saturday 27 Sept, along with over 1300 local residents.

  Drawing the animals

It was an enormously successful event, encouraging people to draw while raising money for the Commons Conservators.  There were 24 “Carnival of Animals” themed stalls inspiring you to sit in the sunshine and be creative for a while.   Stalls, including a puppet show, African still life, a mural, calligraphy and T-shirt decorating sat alongside Bromley Museum, a drawing masterclass, clay animal making and the centrepiece of live goats, rabbits, ducks and a pony from a petting zoo.

General view

All this creativity was kept fuelled by tea, cakes, a barbeque and soup to the evocative background sound of an African drum playing group.

An army of volunteers worked tirelessly all day to make the event such a success and it would not have been possible without the support of sponsors Asprey Homes, The Chislehurst Society, The Rotary Club and jdm.
