Annual Report
The Society is required to submit an annual report to the Charity Commission. This is circulated to members.
Our latest submitted report is for the year ended 2009. This will be presented to members at the Society's AGM on 27 April 2010.
In his report, the Chairman, Tony Allen, comments:
"I am pleased to report to members on the Societ's activities duing 2009. Highlights of the year included:
- a successful and enjoyable first Chislehurst Festival, to celebrate our 75th anniversary
- The launch of the Mix, a magazine written and designed by Chislehurst students
- an increase in the number of local organisations seeking our support
- an agreement to rent our first ever Soceity office."
The Treasurer noted that
Despite the recession and financial crisis the Chislehurst Society’s finances remain robust. The main features for the year were as follows.
- Despite the foresight by our investment committee in 2008 to moderate the effects of lower interest rates our investment income still fell by over a quarter.
- We were still able to make grants of £10,978
- Early in 2010 we have rebalanced our portfolio, further reducing our cash deposits.
